Have A Cool & Colorful Christmas!

There are so many things to think about this time of year.  Gifts for the kids, school festivities, cocktail parties, family dinner menus, and oh yes, holiday decorations!

Christmas is my favorite time of year by far and I love dragging family ornaments, mantel decorations and other goodies out of their attic hibernation.  But more and more, I find myself wanting to work in new things each year too - fun, modern pieces and snazzy new colors to spice things up.

Gone are the days of traditional red-and-green in every home - these days, Christmas palettes run the gamut from retro pink to sophisticated silver, teal, even black which can be stunning when mixed with whites and natural woods, Scandinavian-style.

If you're looking for color inspiration this year, start with a wedding site - The Perfect Palette is one of my favorites.  I use it all the time for ideas.  Check out the fun inspiration boards below that offer three different spins on red - candy apple red, red-green-gray-white, and red-black-camel-white.

I got so excited by browsing through palettes I decided to create a few of my own.  So, here are 5 Christmas inspiration boards featuring fashions, gifts, decor and more - in fresh, festive shades that definitely make for a very merry holiday.  Just hit "Click for more details" in each of them and it will take you to the full roundup.

'Tis the season... make it a colorful one!

A Pretty Pink & Gray Christmas. I'm not normally a huge pink person, but I started spotting all these beautiful fuschias and deep berry pinks and got inspired. Love it for the holidays, especially when paired with gorgeous grays.

A Marvelous Mint & Red Christmas. I'm not usually a "minty" girl but I'm obsessed with the paler-than-pale shades that have been popping up - and when you pair them with rich reds, it's a killer combination.

A Rockin' Red Christmas. Red is a traditional holiday color but it doesn't have to feel predictable - far from it! Red can be bold, sexy, and modern.

A Modern White Christmas. I don't know that my kids would dig an all white Christmas but I love the look. Just gorgeous...

A Glittering Silver & Gold Christmas. I still remember stringing gold tinsel onto the tree as a kid, but oh how the world of metallics has changed! Today's shimmering silvers and golds are gorgeous and subtle - sorry, no tinsel here!
